I'm an Australian artist, amateur naturalist and videogame enjoyer currently based in Meanjin/Brisbane. 25, they/them, autistic.
This website is a pet project of mine, dreamed up from the thought that old-school static web pages are cool, and brought to life from the desire to create an archival space that is truly mine for my works and thoughts. Although I'd known for a long time that big social media has many harmful elements and business practices, it was the destruction of a certain blue bird site - where I'd spent a lot of time - that led me to realise that walled gardens led by big tech can be changed at any time, and are simply not ideal for archiving one's work on the internet. More importantly, though, I realised upon discovering Neocities and the growing fediverse that the modern internet doesn't have to be closed ecosystems run by big tech. We can still create our own spaces without forking out personal data, large amounts of money, or our souls - and that's exactly what I want to do.
Is this site very well-coded or formatted? No - I'm still very much a beginner at coding, but watching this site take shape as my skills grow is part of the enjoyment for me. The goal for it is to become a static portfolio for my artworks, as well as a small blog about my hobbies. Ultimately, I want it to be a site that I'd enjoy visiting.
13/07/2023: First created a Neocities account and began creating my website based on a HTML draft I'd made some time earlier.
19/08/2023: Added some placeholder links at the top of the page, and attempted to create a footer for the decorative buttons.
20/08/2023: Created an about page and updated the summary text on the home page.
22/08/2023: Created a gallery page and added some of my artwork (sorry about the huge image sizes!). Centre-aligned all text on the site. Removed the social media links on the home page since they're now linked in my about page. Added another button to the footer.
10/10/2023: Added boxes! Updated the summary text on the home page.
01/11/2023: Added an iNaturalist widget that shows 5 recent observations that I've uploaded to iNaturalist.
